May 24 - International Day of Markhor Event

Uncharted Waters Origin
2025.05.24 Saturday 00:00 (UTC + 9)

Enter into the Endless Possibility!

Hello, Admirals.

“International Day of Markhor” has been observed since 2024.

It may not be the most well-known holiday, but the message it carries—respecting nature—is something we all resonate with.

To commemorate this day, we’ve prepared a small gift to support your voyage.

Please check the details below.

📘 Special Magazine: “The Horned Aristocrat” – Markhor

🐐 “Would you look at those horns?”

“Markhor” comes from a Hindi word meaning “snake eater”.

Despite the fearsome name, the animal is actually herbivorous and does not prey on snakes.

Its iconic spiral horns can reach up to 160 cm in length in males, earning it the nickname:

“The Noble of the High Mountains.”

🏔️ The Lone Climber of the Himalayas

Markhors are native to the rugged mountain ranges of Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Uzbekistan.

They gracefully leap across treacherous cliffs,

symbolizing freedom and resilience far beyond the reach of predators—or humans.

Recognized for their strength and rarity, Markhors have been designated the National Animal of Pakistan and are now strictly protected.

🧪 A Surprisingly Historic Trade Good?

Believe it or not, Markhor horns have historically been valuable trade items.

From religious artifacts to medicine, and even as high-end decorations,

these spiraled horns once traveled along ancient trade routes as symbols of status and power.

📸 Trivia

  1. The Markhor was once classified as Critically Endangered (CR) by the IUCN, but is now listed as Vulnerable (VU) thanks to conservation efforts.
  2. Each horn pattern is unique, making it a natural identifier for individuals.
  3. Its powerful, elongated legs give it astonishing balance—even on ledges just 1 meter wide.

On your next voyage through mountains and plains,

remember that somewhere out there, a Markhor may be quietly walking just as nobly.

Uncharted Waters Origin hopes to keep these connections to nature alive.

We wish you a safe and meaningful journey today as always.
